NHN PlayArt Corp. (Head Office: Minato, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Masaki Kato; below, “NHN PlayArt”) is pleased to announce that it has been newly established to take over the smartphone game business of the former NHN PlayArt, Corp. and commenced operations on October 1, 2015 (Thu), as announced in the “Notice Regarding Company Split Plan”* dated August 21, 2015.
 
 
The newly launched NHN PlayArt aims to maximize further business growth and results by speeding up business development through faster decision-making to respond to an ever-changing market environment driven by evolving technology and increasingly diverse lifestyles.
 
In the smartphone game business, which the new company has taken over, NHN PlayArt has developed high-quality games and maintained sustained growth, as shown by the success of “LINE: Disney Tsum Tsum,” a casual puzzle game for smartphones developed by the company, which has been downloaded more than 45 million times worldwide.
 
NHN PlayArt will continue to offer services that many customers will enjoy through the development and provision of high-quality games, and by taking on the challenge of exploring new areas, we will continue to promote the creation of entertainment that can always deliver enjoyment and surprise.

Because smartphone games had been a core business of the former NHN PlayArt since its establishment in 2013, the name “NHN PlayArt Corp.” will continue to be used for the new company taking over the smartphone game business.
 
*As announced in the “Notice Regarding Corporate Split” dated August 21, 2015, the former NHN PlayArt Corp. will change its trade name to NHN comico Corp. and transition to an operating holding company effective October 1, 2015. The smartphone game business will be taken over by the newly established company NHN PlayArt Corp., and the PC online game business will be absorbed by PlayArt Fukuoka Corp., which will change its name to NHN Hangame Corp.
